Congratulations to Fire Chief Michael Huneke and Deputy Chief Matthew Hanson on your promotions!

Chief Huneke has worked through the ranks gaining 22 years of experience, was one of the founding members of Elburn's IAFF #4749, and has just been awarded the professional designation of Chief Fire Officer. A credential that only 8% of Fire Chiefs hold across the country.

In his 20 year career with the Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District, Deputy Chief Hanson has served from the ranks of our fire district as a part-time Firefighter, full-time Firefighter/Paramedic, before being promoted to Lieutenant and then most recently serving as Assistant Chief. Not only has his leadership and experiences helped in developing the department to where it is today, but his profound and natural ability has been echoed amongst Firefighters across the nation with his publications in Firehouse Magazine and Fire Rescue Magazine.
